A set of four steel coil cradles for carrying steel coils.
Use these to brace steel coils in rail wagons and prevent them from rolling away in transit! Trains can also carry empty cradles for trains travelling back to steel mills for reloading.
Three different designs of coil cradle are available:
Style 1 is a minimal design of steel construction, for mounting coils "eye to side". Seen on many wagons such as BAA, BBA (photo) and BOA (photo).
Style 2 is a heavier steel design. Typically several are mounted on a wagon in a line for coil loads that are "eye to rear". Used on wagons such as BAA (photo) and BKA (photo).
Style 3 is an earlier, all-wood design, also used in an "eye to rear" orientation. Used on wagons such as BAA (photo).
Style 4 is an even larger heavy steel design, also used for mounting coils "eye to side". These were often used on BOA wagons in combination with style 1 (photo).
Styles 1 and 2 both have wooden planks that need gluing in place. Style 4 comes as a kit requiring assembly - assembly instructions can be found here. All cradles come unpainted.
