Thornycroft Thurgood 20 seat bus scale model
Thornycroft Thurgood 20 seat bus scale model
A 3D printed scale model of a 20 seat Thornycroft bus, B20F.
This model is based on a bus that existed from the late 1920s to the mid 1930s. It was produced by Thurgood of Ware.
They ran in a variety of liveries over their time in service. Firstly, under the Thurgood's own service 'People's Motor service' and had "Peoples" on the side. They were also seen in the "General" livery and "London Transport" livery.
Each livery came with a few differences to the bodywork. In the 'peoples' livery the bus had a spare wheel attached on the offside beneath the driver's window. For the 'General' livery, the wheel recess was still present, but the wheel was not attached. In the 'London Transport' livery, the recess had been covered with a panel and there are no lights on the top of the wheel guards at the front. Instead the the lights are on the corners beneath the front windows.
To enable you to model all three of these we have two versions available:
- Peoples/General - The body includes a recess beneath the driver's window and the kit includes a separate wheel that can be added if desired. There are lights on the front wheel guards and the number plate is mounted on the framework holding the headlights.
- London Transport - This version doesn't have the recess and no spare wheel is included. The front number plate is located beneath the engine grille and the lights have moved from the front wheel guards to beneath the front windows.
Assembly and painting instructions for the model can be found here. As a note, the suggested liveries are based on our best estimate from the limited knowledge and black and white photos we have. We'd be happy to know if there is any further information out there.
Each version comes as an unpainted model, consisting of a resin 3D printed body shell, the interior/chassis, and the four static wheels. The kit also include two separate pieces to allow the bus doors to be modelled open or closed. The kit does not include glazing or transfers.
We are working on being able to offer transfers to compliment this model, but their not ready yet.
This model has been developed in conjunction with Anthony Parker.
O (1:43.5), 1:50, OO (1:76) and N (1:148) models are available. Interested in a different scale? Send us a message!
